Dr
Alain Samson's Consulting Pages
Expertise
My research expertise is the product of both academic work and experience in commercial environments.
I began my professional career in
publishing (while studying at KV Zurich Business School) and television,
followed by an academic journey from UC Berkeley to the London School of
Economics. I successfully managed my own online business for several years in
the U.S. While completing my doctoral studies, I worked as an instructor and
academic researcher. In 2005, I started to provide services as a consultant and freelance
researcher, and I have spanned the boundaries between
academic and applied research settings ever since.
My work has been mainly in the areas of social psychology, consumer
behavior and market research methodology, including:
- Quantitative (survey and experimental) research, from research design to
statistical analysis
- Consulting related to theories and research practices in the fields of
social psychology, consumer psychology and behavioral economics
- Improvement of existing market research methodologies and development of
new research products
I have been involved in projects for different sectors, including media,
consumer, higher education and government.
My work in the area of behavioral economics, done with Orlando Wood and Peter
Harrison at
BrainJuicer Labs, was nominated for best methodology and won silver for 'best paper' at
the 2011 ESOMAR (European Society for Opinion and Market Research) Congress.
