The main focus of my work is the economics of climate change, in particular
carbon pricing and the economics of adaptation, but I am also interested in
wider environment and development issues.
Prior to joining LSE I worked for many years at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and before that at the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the World Bank. I started my career at the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) at University College London. During 2007/08 I was Managing Director (Strategic Advice) at IDEAcarbon.
I was educated at the University of Berne (lic. rer. pol. 1989), the London School of Economics (MSc Econ 1990) and University College London (PhD Econ 1994).
