Maximilian Freier does research work on European political economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He holds degrees in economics, political science and European studies from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and LSE. He has published articles on European political economy, European integration and international relations, one of which won him the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award in 2006.

Over the past years Maximilian Freier has worked for think tanks, including the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt and the Bertelsmann Stiftung, as well as the European Central Bank. He also works as a freelance consultant.
