Short bio

Anke Görzig is Visiting Fellow at the Department of Media and Communications at LSE and Senior Lecturer in Psychology at University of West London. She is a child and youth care worker (certified,1998), a psychologist (MSc, 2004; PhD, 2008) and social science researcher who has worked and taught at a number of institutions, including the Institute of Psychiatry, University College London, University of Birmingham, Northwestern University (USA) and University of Mannheim (Germany). In recent years she has collaborated with academics and professionals across disciplines and in cross-national networks employing her expertise in the areas of social, developmental and clinical psychology as well as applied her quantitative analyses skills to policy-led research.

Her general research interests evolve around applying psychological concepts and statistical methods to social policy research with a specific focus on social inequality. She has investigated students' motivation and performance, with a particular interest in the roles of stereotypes, attitudes, and the self-concept as well as children's risks and opportunities on the internet with an emphasis on cyberbullying, multiple risk behaviours and disadvantaged groups. Anke has presented research findings at prestigious national and international conferences. In addition, she has taught classes and given lectures in statistical methods, social, developmental and applied psychology.

Her experience as a quantitative Researcher range from experimental lab studies to the analyses of large scale data sets such as the BCS70 (British Birth Cohort Studies 1970), ILR (Individual Learners Record), and PLASC (Pupil Level Annual School Census). Most recently her work focuses on the analyses of cross-national data and the evaluation of mental health service practices.
