Smoking
Please remember
that it is strictly forbidden to smoke anywhere inside the building or on
the front steps. People found smoking in these areas will receive an
immediate fine of £50 from the management team. You can smoke in the
designated smoking areas to either side of the sculpture in the car park.

Census 2011 |
You should have now recieved your census form. If you have not done so
please come to reception as soon as possible.
Please remember that you are required to complete the census by law, failure to do so may incur
prosecution, a criminal record and a fine of up to £1000. Anybody who has
lived in the UK for more than three months, regardless of immigration
status, nationality or whether you are registered as a voter here or at home
is required to complete the census.
You do not have to wait until 27th March to complete the form, ideally you
should complete it before term ends if you are going home. All forms should
be delivered back to reception before 27th March, in the original envelope
stating your room number.

Maintenance |
Shower Sealing
Over the next six
weeks there will be a rolling programme to reseal around 120 showers. This is essential work to stop leaks developing. We will contact you
individually if work is due to undertaken in your bathroom and would like to
apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
Showerhead Cleaning - Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March.
In line with Health and Safety legislation
the monthly showerhead and extractor clean will take place on 19th and 20th
March.

Housekeeping |
Monthly Room Checks - Thursday 24th and Friday 25th March
Monthly room checks will be taking
place on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th March. You do not need to
be present in your room during the check and it should only take a
few minutes. For some hints and tips on bathroom cleaning you might
want to refer to the

Easter Vacation 2011 |
Over the next few
weeks we will have news of things happening in and around Bankside during
the Easter Vacation.
There is some essential
maintenance and survey work that needs to be carried out at Bankside. We have
worked with the contractors to schedule this work at the beginning of the
Easter Vacation so as to minimise disruption to residents in the run up to
exams. We appreciate that it will still cause inconvenience but we hope that
by scheduling the work like this we can minimise
disruption.
Surveyors on site -
week commencing 28th March.
There
will be surveyors on site during the week commencing 28th March, they will
require access to rooms on the sixth and seventh floors - you will be
contacted individually if they need access to your room.
Noise testing - week
commencing 28th March.
On one day during the
week commencing 28th March there will be some noise testing to establish how
noisy the planned building works will be. The testing will take place in the
middle of the day and we will let you know exactly when as soon as we get
these details.
Bus bar testing - 30th
and 31st March.
Following the heating failure in the early part of the year there will be
testing taking place on the main bus bars for the building. There will be
power, heating and light disruption to the west wing (lower room numbers) on
30th March and to the east wing (higher room numbers) on the 31st March.
Shower Sealing.
The shower sealing works
mentioned above will continue throughout the Easter break.
Showerhead Cleaning - Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April.
In addition to the showerhead cleaning
taking place on the 19th and 20th March a showerhead and extractor clean will take place on 2nd and 3rd
April.

donuts on Wednesday 23rd March in aid of their charity expedition to

World Stage Lecture series |
Rowan Harvey - March 21st,
6.30pm, Wolfson Theatre, NAB
This is the last in
the exciting series of events where prestigious alumni and current students
share the stage at LSE. The final speaker, Rowan Harvey will reflect on her
experiences at LSE and how this influenced her career. Students will talk
about their experience at LSE from their particular national, cultural and
personal perspective and in discussion the group will look at ways to
get the most out of the array of opportunities at LSE. Rowan Harvey
currently woks as Policy and Advocacy Officer for Plan International - one
of the largest child-centred community development organisations in the
world. In 2007 Rowan won Public Affairs Achiever of the Year from the Women
in Public Life Awards. She graduated from LSE in 2003 and is a LSE Governor.
The talk will be followed by drinks and snacks where students and staff will
have the opportunity to meet and chat informally. For more information

bedroom - just follow these
simple instructions.

Free in London this
Weekend
|
Cheese and Wine Festival, 18th - 20th March, Southbank Centre
Southbank Centre Square will be filled
with stalls selling cheese, wine and related products this weekend between
11am and 8pm (6pm Sunday). There are always loads of freebies to be had and
some excellent cookery demonstrations. For more details visit
