The Big Talk!

Monday 28th February - 6pm to 7pm - Annex Room
Your stay at Bankside is a fundamental part of your experience at LSE. We want to know what you think about Bankside and the services we provide. We are always seeking to improve both the quality of our accommodation and our service which is where your come in...

Meet Ian Spencer (Director of Residential Services) and Andy Farrell (Director of Finance and Facilities) in the Annex Room (near the Restaurant) at 6pm on Monday 28th February
We would like you to tell us about your accommodation experience. What are we doing right? What are we doing wrong? What areas would you like to see improved? It can cover anything from your dealings with the accommodation office to the facilities in your room or the service you receive from reception. The choice is yours!

There will be refreshments available and all Bankside residents that attend The Big Talk will be entered into a draw for two free cinema tickets!

Lent Term
It is quite normal to find Lent term stressful as course material becomes more difficult and exams loom. Below are a few services and sources of advice that you may find useful. Don't forget that there is also a sub-warden on each floor at Bankside - we're all LSE students and have experience of LSE Exams. One of us is also on duty every night and over the weekend for urgent matters.
Also, if you have any concerns about other students please let us know (in confidence) and we'll do our very best to help.

The teaching and Learning Centre Seminars are a great source of advice, in particular the following courses may be worth considering More details, including specific postgraduate courses are available on the Teaching and Learning centre website.
SS113: Exams II: Last Minute Preparation - Wednesday 2nd March
SS116: Exams III: Using Past Exam Papers - Wednesday 9th March

SS115: Quantitative Exam Preparation - Wednesday 16th March
SS133: Exams: Revise and De-stress - Wednesday 4th May

If you have not yet done so, it is vital that you register with a GP as soon as possible. This will both save you time and hassle if you fall ill and makes life much easier if you require mitigation because of illness during your exams.

Maintenance

Kitchen Water Testing - 25th February, 28th February, 1st March.
In line with legal requirements we have to test the water in the kitchens. Operatives will be visiting each kitchen on Friday 25th February to take samples. On Monday 28th February and Tuesday 1st March there will be no drinking water available in the kitchens between 10am and 1pm.  We apologise for the inconvenience that this essential work may cause.

The Committee

Pub Quiz and meet the SU candidates - Thursday 24th February, 8.30pm in the bar.
The committee will be running a pub quiz this Thursday in the bar. There will be free pizza and snacks for all attending and the chance to win a £20 bar tab for the winning team! The candidates for the upcoming student union elections will also be there - this is a great opportunity to meet the candidates and get to know them.

The Local Area

Thames Water and Southern Gas Networks will be undertaking works on Borough High Street until the end of March. The works will be taking pace at the junction of Borough High Street and St. Thomas' Street and will result in some disruption.
