The Dining Room
Recently the dining room has been
left in an unacceptable state during the day. Please make sure that
this room is left clean and
uncluttered - it is not
the job of the catering staff to clean up your mess from studying.
If the room continues to be left in a messy state then we may have
to reconsider leaving it open.

Housekeeping |
Condition of bathrooms
Over the course of the
last few weeks, we have carried out an inspection of all toilets and
showers. For many of you, this action will have gone unnoticed.
Your bathroom was clean and we therefore had no need to contact
you. Unfortunately this was not the case for all rooms. many of
those visited were simply disgusting:
- Toilets not flushed,
- Sink units encrusted in dirt and lime scale,
- Shower units caked in soap deposits and hair,
- Dirty floors,
The list is endless, but you get the drift. So we have had no
alternative but to issue warning letters, and charge for an
immediate clean by Housekeeping. The result of this has been
mixed. Many of you would like some extra time to resolve the
issue. Others have voiced their lack of knowledge as to what
products to use, and how to best clean the facilities. We have
listened to you, and we have decided to change our immediate plans.
We will still write to all concerned, highlighting the problems we
encountered, and if necessary adding charges to your bill. However,
we will give you time to rectify the situation. Our next scheduled
inspection will take place 13th and 14th June. If upon inspection
we find that your room is now clean, and the matters we raised have
been resolved, we will remove the charge from your bill. If we find
that matters have not been resolved, the charge will stand, and
Housekeeping will be sent in.
If you are having trouble identifying the best products to use,
please feel free to ask your Sub Warden, or pop down and visit
reception, where somebody will be able to talk you through the
various possibilities. If you are too busy, and you know you will be
unable to meet the June deadline, we suggest you consider paying for
the cleaning service, available through reception. We know you are
all busy, but the state of some of the bathrooms within this
building is simply shocking. However, we have listened, taken on
board your comments, and amended our plans accordingly. But please,
if you are in any doubt as to what action you should take, please
visit reception and ask for help.

End of Term Re-Use |
Re-use room opens 27th May
The
table-tennis room will be set-up as a re-use room from Friday 27th
May. It is estimated that every student leaves between 10-20kg of
reusable items when they move our of halls. The re-use scheme allows
these items to be collected and diverted from landfill. You can
leave stationary, electrical appliances (does not have to be
working), fridges, books, clothes, shoes, bedding and unopened food
(in tins and packets). If you wish to take items from the room you
may do so but please make sure that you complete the tracking sheet.
The room will be open
daily between 7.00am and 3.30pm. If you need access outside of these
hours please come to reception and ask for the room to be opened.
Please ensure that all donated items are clean, placed in the
right area and do not use the room for dumping rubbish. During this time the table tennis table will
be placed in the TV lounge. For more details visit
Sustainable LSE, ask at reception or
e-mail j.s.woodley@lse.ac.uk.
