The Annual Student Survey
Take a break from revision or exams and spend a few minutes completing the LSE Residential Services annual survey. Your feedback is important to us and helps us develop our services to students. Click here to complete the survey. The survey is open until 9th July 2011. Anonymised survey results will be shared with the Residential Services team. Submit your response and you will be automatically entered in to a free draw with the opportunity to win one of twenty £10 vouchers.

Reception

Lounges - Closed from 20th June
In order to assist with the transition from student to vacation mode the lounges on levels 1 to 6 will be closed from 20th June. If you have any items in the lounges please remove them before this point. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Housekeeping

Room checks - next  week
Further to our last communication, bathroom and room checks are taking place next week, Monday through Wednesday. During our last check we found many of the bathrooms to be in a disgusting state; they were filthy from a Health and Safety view, definitely a cause for concern. However, we were reminded that many of you were hard at work, so we extended the period of time before we would re-check and instigate immediate fines.

If your bathroom or room are not found in the same clean and hygienic condition we handed over to your upon check-in, two things will automatically happen:
- Housekeeping will be instructed to clean your room/bathroom within 24 hours, and

- Depending on the condition of the facility, a charge of £100 will be posted to your room account.

Please take this this opportunity to remove all your rubbish, dirty food boxes, and newspapers. Remember, vacuum cleaners are available at reception. If you are still not sure of which cleaning products to use, either:

- Call a friend

- Check with reception, or

- Check on the internet

If you are in any doubt, need assistance, come and ask at reception.

Window Cleaning - 15th - 18th June
The windows will be cleaned on Wednesday 15th, Thursday 16th and Friday 17th June. If, due to the weather, the work overruns it may also take place on Saturday 18th June. The inside is cleaned from within your room so please make sure that there is access to your window and that your window sill is clear. Please also ensure that there is no furniture (including your bed) in front of your window as this restricts access. Your presence in the room is not required and the work should take only a few minutes. The outside is cleaned from outside so please take extra effort to ensure that your curtains are closed when you are getting dressed etc. If you live on the first to third floors please also keep your window closed during the cleaning because a water jet is used to clean the windows lower down the building.

End of Term Re-Use

Re-use room now open
The table-tennis room will be set-up as a re-use room from Friday 27th May. It is estimated that every student leaves between 10-20kg of reusable items when they move our of halls. The re-use scheme allows these items to be collected and diverted from landfill. You can leave stationary, electrical appliances (does not have to be working), fridges, books, clothes, shoes, bedding and unopened food (in tins and packets). If you wish to take items from the room you may do so but please make sure that you complete the tracking sheet.
The room will be open daily between 7.00am and 3.30pm. If you need access outside of these hours please come to reception and ask for the room to be opened. Please ensure that all donated items are clean, placed in the right area and do not use the room for dumping rubbish. During this time the table tennis table will be placed in the TV lounge. For more info visit Sustainable LSE, ask reception or e-mail j.s.woodley@lse.ac.uk.

Maintenance

Shower Sealing
Over the next couple of weeks weeks there will be a rolling programme to reseal the showers in several rooms. This is essential work to stop leaks developing. We will contact you individually if work is due to undertaken in your bathroom and would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Carpet removal
The contractors are now working on the sixth floor. They should not start work until 8am and noisy work should not start until 9am. If you have any issues with contractors starting before these times please let reception know.
