Neil Lee

  • Professor of Economic Geography, London School of Economics
I work on economic development, innovation, and public policy.

My current research is on innovation and inclusive growth, the development of Asian tech, and quality of government in ‘advanced’ democracies. I run the ‘Cities’ theme in the International Inequalities Institute and am Professor II at the Inland University of Norway.

I’m also an affiliate of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE), the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and the Centre for Responsible Banking and Finance at the University of St Andrews. I’m an associate member at Nuffield College, University of Oxford.

I do research consultancy and strategic advice for both UK and international clients.

I’m currently working on inclusive innovation. I’ve developed a framework and worked with MetroDynamics, the UK Innovation Districts Group and Connected Places Catapult on a report making the case for Inclusive Innovation.

My book on this topic - Innovation for the Masses: How to spread the benefits of the tech economy - coming late 2023 with University of California Press
