Managing ICT for Productivity
This project, led by Jonathan Liebenau, focuses
on the managerial dimensions of the utilization of ICT in business, with a
special emphasis on leading British industrial districts. Working in parallel
with the leading econometric studies of ICT-led productivity growth, we address
questions such as, what typifies effective managerial practices in firms with
differing results. We concentrate on geographical clusters and on coherent
industrial sectors to test hypotheses including those explaining international
lag times in productivity growth, sectoral
differences, and the effects of geographical clusters. We also address questions
about the efficacy of virtual relations in replicating or enhancing
geographical proximity.
