Curriculum vitae

I am a PhD candidate at the LSE Department of International Development (
DESTIN) and a research associate at the LSE Crisis States Research Centre (CSRC). I am now back in London after a year's worth of fieldwork, undertaken between October 2008 and March 2010 in Colombia and the Philippines, where my PhD project seeks to explore the comparative political economy of rent-seeking. I am also currently a Teaching Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).

Prior to my life as a PhD student, I helped run an NGO,  taught economics and development theory, and provided consultancy services to organisations like the Development Academy of the Philippines, OXFAM, the World Bank and Risk Asia, Inc.

My current research interests include themes in the interstices of economics and politics, including: governance and state-making, the political economy of late development, and food security and agriculture policy.
