A Short Bio Sketch
I was born on July 23, 1977, in Erba, Italy, where I spent most of my time until I graduated from Liceo Scientifico "G.Galilei" in 1996 (High School). In September that same year, I started my studies in Economics at Bocconi University, Milan. During my third year of undergraduate studies, I spent a semester in Paris (between January and July, 1999) visiting Sciences-PO (Institut d'Etudes Politiques), from which I earned an International Certificate of Political and Social Studies. In October 2000, I graduated from Bocconi with a dissertation in monetary economics and macro-econometrics (under the supervision of Prof.Carlo Favero), and immediately enrolled in the Master in Economics at the same institution (MEc-Bocconi). Over those days, my research interests radically changed and moved towards issues in labour and growth; also, I started working with micro data and got interested in micro-econometrics. In September 2001, I started my PhD at the European University (EUI), Florence, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Ichino. In January 2004, I moved to University College London (UCL) as a Marie Curie Fellow, and from there to the Centre for Economic Performance, London School of Economics, where I worked as a Research Officer until August 2007. In the meantime, I completed my doctoral studies at EUI (January 27, 2006; thesis committee: Pascal Courty, Andrea Ichino, Victor Lavy and Eric Maurin). Since September 2007, I have joined the Department of Geography and Environment of the London School of Economics as a Lecturer in Real Estate Economics and Finance (REEF). At the same time, I have kept my affiliation to the CEP, where I am now a Research Associate. Since May 2006, I am also affiliated to IZA as a Research Fellow (visit www.iza.org). Finally, I am a Research Associate of the newly founded Spatial Economics Research Centre (visit: http://www.spatialeconomics.ac.uk/).
