I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). My work looks at the politics and economics of transnational investments, particularly in the land and resource sector, and how this effects patterns of industrial and social development in least developed countries. Though much of my current research focuses on Southeast Asia, I have a strong interest in the historical and comparative political economy of agrarian societies in many parts of the global 'South'. From 2013-2014 I was a U.S. Fulbright Research Award recipient to Lao PDR.
I am currently a Teaching Fellow in the Department of International Development at LSE, where I teach postgraduate seminars in Development Management. I also teach undergraduate courses in Democracy and Democratization in the Department of Government and Theory & Evidence in Contemporary Development at the School for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Students may schedule office hour appointments via email or LSE for You. I have previously taught LSE: 100 and IR102: Capitalism, Democracy & Inequality- The Political Economy of Advanced Nations.
I founded the department's Comparative Politics Doctoral Research Workshop, a Thursday seminar where LSE research students and faculty can present work in progress for constructive development. Attendance and participation is open across departments and beyond. Past and upcoming sessions can be found here.
