Medical and Essential Services
The map below shows the locations of several local pharmacies (chemists) as well as the nearest medical centre (where all students should register), the nearest hospital and the nearest police station.
If you need medical advice you can phone NHS (National Health Service) Direct at any time on 0845 4647.
Students from overseas should note that in the UK all pharmacies have at least one trained "pharmacist" on duty at all times who is a trained medical professional, and who has the power to authorise the sale of stronger medicines than those simply available over the counter. In general, unless you are certain of what you need it is always a good idea to ask the pharmacist as they will know what is best for you (even if it is just aspirin).
