The Critique of Pure Rhythm

is the old-time rock 'n' roll band of the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method of the LSE. The band has had many student and staff members, but for the 2015-16 academic year consists of John Worrall and James Bonney on guitar, Max Steuer on bass, Roman Frigg on drums, David Healey on sax, Daniel Kim on keys and Ipek Gencsu and Alex Voorhoeve on vocals.

Our first gig was in November 2006 in John's living room, where we tried to recreate the swinging sixties of his youth. Since then, we've played at several departmental parties, the LSE Staff party, a few alumni get-togethers and even a wedding.

Past masters include: Matthew Parker on keys and harmonica in 2006-10 and 2014-15; Jami Makan on drums in 2006-07; Amy Reed on vocals from 2006 to 2008; Steve Bond on vocals in 2008-09 and 2012-13; Bryan Williamson on guitar in 2010-11; Natalia Tsalli on vocals 2012-14; Alec Howells on guitar and sax in 2014-15, and Benjamin Lange on drums in 2014-15.
