3.1 Review of experiences

That a variety of social events had been organised
That the weather was expected to be good
That everything was in place for the start of the conference tomorrow
That plenary sessions would be held from 9-10.30 every morning except for Friday with four keynote speakers. Peter Keen was unable to attend in person and so would be presenting via a video-conference facility.
That the best paper awards would be made tomorrow not on Friday as initially planned as not all attendees would be staying till the final session.
That the programme consisted of 6-8 parallel sessions drawing on 11 research tracks.
That the proceedings were available on CD-ROM by default, with around 1/3 of attendees requesting hard copy.
There were 130 research papers and two keynote speeches in the proceedings, which also included a searching facility
That in order to provide continuation, Nancy Pouloudi (organiser of the doctoral consortium ECIS 2002) had attended this year's doctoral consortium
That a special AIS workshop had been organised for colleagues from Central and Eastern Europe. The conference organisers let them off 50% of the conference fee, and AIS provided $200 support per person, resulting in 50 people attending who would not normally be at ECIS.
That there had been problems with the review management system which led to a one month delay in processing the reviews, which had to be done manually.
That 50 personal computers were available for participants to use, located in three of the hotels.

That, in future, a paper book of abstracts be provided to all attendees.
4 Final report for ECIS 2000
4.1 Reported
There had been 414 papers
There were 651 paying participants, 60% of whom had taken advantage of the early registration facility, 80% were regular attendees, 20% were students.
Food was the most expensive aspect of the budget
That the CD ROM production had been free, courtesy of Sony Austria
That many of the marketing adverts had been free
That the sponsorship had been good and the conference would have been profitable at 300 attendees
As a result of making a surplus, funds were donated to ECIS 2001 and to the Standing Committee.
That Stefan Klein had checked the accounts and was satisfied with how they had been produced, with all his queries being answered.
5 Forthcoming conferences
5.1 ECIS 2002
5.2 Reported
That a pack about Gdansk had been produced and would be distributed to all attendees, which included a CD-ROM film of Gdansk
That the title of the conference had been changed from "expanding the digital economy" to "Information Systems and the Future of the Digital Economy"
That the programme was organised around 10 themes
That 4500 copies of the call for papers had been printed
That a special effort had been made to include Central and Eastern European colleagues on the programme committee
That the doctoral consortium was expecting upto 30 PhD students for the event
That a new building in the faculty of law would be used as the venue. Rooms can have video links
That the conference dinner would take place in the sports hall with Dixie and folk music
That the logo has the agreement of the city council
That there would be an optional social event for the Saturday
That the reviewing software was working fine

That 'stars' had been added to the call for papers and a first call for participation had been issued.
That the support of the regional administration had been obtained, and that negotiations with the City of Naples were underway.

That the organisers were expecting around 400 participants, including the doctoral consortium in Capri.

That an initial, initial call had been developed and the website.
That the date of the conference had been changed by one week

6 Celebrating the tenth ECIS conference
6.1 In discussion
A variety of proposals, including awards for contribution to ECIS, or a short historical review take place. Another suggestion was a panel on what the distinct contribution of European IS research might be. No single idea was agreed.

8 Paper versus CD proceedings
8.1 Reported
That there was support for the importance of paper based documents, as a permanent archive of conference proceedings, in addition to electronically readable proceedings
That the evolving norm of CD proceedings by default, with paper proceedings as an optional extra should be continued (although with a paper booklet of abstracts)
That the standing committee should look to putting all papers on the web (ACM Digital library / AIS digital library)
That this decision should be kept under review
