Does your tap drip?
This is a really
easy problem for us to fix so if your tap drips please just let us know.
You can easily report
it online. During the day you can also report any faults to reception
by phone (dial 0) or in person if you prefer. When reception is staffed by
security you can only report faults online.

The Fire Alarm
At Bankside we do not have fire
drills so if the alarm sounds then, by law, we must evacuate the building.
As such we have to fine people that evacuate the building late or stay
indoors. When you evacuate please take care to ensure that you wear warm
clothing and shoes and that your lock your room door as you leave. The one
exception to this rule is Mondays at 12noon when the bells are tested for a
very short period an no action is necessary.

Monthly room checks
As you will know from Jackie's
email we are currently running slightly behind with room checks, we
apologise for any inconvenience. During the room checks we have noticed that
the vast majority of residents are leaving their heating turned on - this is
both a fire hazard (the curtains are just above) and also a massive waste of
electricity. A large number of lights had also been left on in un-occupied
rooms. Please be sure to turn your heating and lights off when you leave
your room.
Most residents have made an excellent effort to keep their bathroom
clean but please do remember to clean the floor - this can be done easily
with domestic floor wipes and rubber gloves or we now have mops and buckets at reception which you can
use.
If you would like your room cleaned by the cleaners then please contact
reception - a bathroom clean costs £11.40 and a full room clean is £18.64.

Support your fellow Banksiders |
A message from three
Bankside residents...
Hey Banksiders,
This summer holiday our plan is to spend three weeks trekking through Nepal
and eventually reaching Everest Base Camp! For so many reasons this is gonna
be absolutely awesome, but first and foremost it will raise some money for
Childreach International, a truly inspirational charity who are doing
brilliant international development work for children in developing
countries. We've met a lot of the Childreach people in London and it's
amazing how devoted to, and enthused about, their work they really are!
To make this dream a reality, we need to raise £2,440 each, and we really
hope that as many of you as possible will contribute. We're planning many
fundraising activities at Bankside, which will include a pool tournament
starting this Thursday that costs just £2 to enter
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=187350161287715 with the winner
receiving a £10 bar tab, and we’re also making brownies that will be on sale
shortly. Or if you’re really keen, you can donate money to us in person.
If you'd like to find out more, we'll have a noticeboard near Reception
shortly, we all have facebook groups, or alternatively please come and talk
to us! Please donate and please, please think of the children!
Bankside love,
Josh Still, Joe Pearson and Luja Mathema
