Census 2011

The 2011 Census is here -  Help tommorrow take shape!

Over the next few days your floor sub-warden will be delivering your copy of the UK census.
You are required to complete this by law, failure to do son may incur prosecution, a criminal record and a fine of up to £1000. Anybody who has lived in the UK for more than three months, regardless of immigration status, nationality or whether you are registered as a voter here or at home is required by law to complete the census.

Some hints on how the Census will work at Bankside:
1. Forms will be delivered to your room. Each form will be in an envelope stating your room number.

2. You do not have to wait until 27th March to complete the form, ideally you should complete it before term ends if you are going home.

3. All forms should be delivered back to reception before 27th March, in the original envelope stating your room number.

3. You can complete the form online if you would prefer. If you choose to so you will receive a receipt number, you will need to note this receipt number on the envelope and deliver this to reception.

If you have any questions or queries please speak to reception, ask your sub-warden or visit the Census 2011 Website

Kettles missing from lounges
A number of kettles have been removed from the lounges. If these are not replaced by 14th March then the cost of replacements will be added to communal charges. The kettles in the lounges are for everybody's use and should never be taken into bedrooms.

Maintenance

Surveyors on site - Monday 14th March
The will be surveyors on site on Monday between 9am and 5pm. They will need access to rooms on the ground and fourth floors to measure ceiling heights. They should be in the rooms for a matter of minutes. LSE Estates pass on their apologies for any inconvenience that this causes.

Potential Disruption to Water Supplies - 17th March
There will be a specialist engineer at Bankside on 17th March between 9am and 5pm undertaking inspections and work on the water plant. This may cause some minor disruption to the hot and cold water system. We apologise for the obvious inconvenience but this work has to be undertaken on a 'normal operating day' so we have to do it during term time.

Shower Sealing
Over the next six weeks there will be a rolling programme to reseal the showers in around 120 rooms. This is essential work to stop leaks developing. We will contact you individually if work is due to undertaken in your room and would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

The Local Area

Works affecting Borough High Street
Thames Water and Southern Gas Networks will be undertaking works on Borough High Street until the end of March. The works will be taking pace at the junction of Borough High Street and St. Thomas' Street and will result in some disruption.
