Bird's Eye View of Tirana

On the last day of the conference, three of us went on a short walk through the city centre. This is taken from the top floor of Sky Tower, apparently one of the tallest buildings in Tirana.

Water pipe in front of the Pyramid

There was a pyramid, once a monumental building for former dictator Hoxha but now an exhibition centre, located about 10 minute walk along the main boulevard from Polytechnic University of Tirana. Interestingly, there was a water pipe, in front of which people were queuing to fill their empty bottles. Couldn't figure out why...

A donkey in a small town of Albania

On our way back to Tirana from Serranda, we stopped at a small town for a refresh air, and there, I saw this donkey, strolling across the street in a very relaxing manner. In fact, you could still see many horse-powered carts, cows used for cultivation everywhere in Albania.

On our way from Tirana to Serranda, we stopped at a town called Gjirokaster, the place where the former dictator Hoxha was born. His birthplace was preserved, and is now used as a small museum. On top of the hill, there was a castle, and interestingly, inside the castle on the ground floor were many canons and artilleries, preserved from the Second World War. We didn't get a clear explanation of why they were still there...

Hyun in Kruja

Kruja is a city, north of Tirana. On top of the hill, there is a small but peaceful and beautiful town.
