Fee Payments

Residence fees are due by 5pm on Friday 21st January
An invoice has been posted under your door which contains full details of your fees and how to pay. If you have not recieved your invoice or have any problems with paying your fees please be sure to contact Fabio Valencia (f.o.valencia@lse.ac.uk) or Seema Adia (s.adia@lse.ac.uk) in advance of the deadline. Late payment will incur a charge of £5 per week.

Student Counselling Service
The Student Counselling service are running a number of useful workshops over Lent term:
Presentation Skills and Confidence - 19th January, 14.45 to 15.45, CLM.206
A workshop looking a range of practical confidence building measures including positive self talk, good vocal technique and tips for managing anxiety and stress.
Managing Perfectionism - 31st January, 12.00 to 13.00, CLM.702
This workshop will look at common difficulties with excess perfectionism and will cover a range of practical approaches to help.
Procrastination - 9th February, 14.00 to 15.00, OLD.550
Looking at the difficulties with procrastination, examining the negative thoughts and behaviours that stop students from being able to work and looking at practical techniques and tips to deal with this.
Sleep Well - 28th February, 12.00 to 13.00, KSW.G212
A workshop to help increase your understanding of the process of sleep and explore strategies and ideas about how you might work towards achieving better sleep.

LSE Student Mentoring Scheme
The LSE Student Mentoring Scheme has begun to recruit new mentors for 2011/12. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please visit the Student Mentoring Scheme 2011 Webpage where you can download an application form and find out more details. Completed application forms can be e-mailed to studentmentoring@lse.ac.uk  or dropped off at the Student Services Centre counter. All prospective mentors will have to attend a training session being held in February and March.

Heating and Hot Water
We would like to thank you for your patience during the on-going problems with the heating and hot water - Jackie and Seema will continue to keep you updated with progress via e-mail. If you are having problems with the hot water in your room please e-mail Jackie on j.s.woodley@lse.ac.uk
 

Housekeeping

Monthly Room Checks - Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th January
Monthly room checks will be taking place on Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th January. You do not need to be present in your room during the check and it should only take a few minutes.
 

The Local Area

Works affecting Borough High Street
Thames Water and Southern Gas Networks will be undertaking works on Borough High Street between 17th January and end of March. The works will be taking pace at the junction of Borough High Street and St. Thomas' Street and will result in some disruption. In addition Network rail will be working on the Rail Viaduct over Borough High Street. This will mean that Bus Routes 17, 21, 35, 40, 43, 48, 133, 141, 149, 343 and RV1 will be diverted between 22.00 and 06.00 on 12th - 16th and 23rd January. Additional Closures are also likely to take place in February.
