The International Students Workshop will be running on 3rd November offering an opportunity to explore cultural and academic styles in the UK. The Good Writing Psychology workshop will be running on 5th November. For both these events you can either just turn up or the presentations are available on the Student Counselling Service website.

Registering with a GP
If you have not done so already you must register with a GP in London. Our nearest practise is on Colombo Street, about five minutes walk from Bankside. Health care in the UK is free and it only takes a short time to register; not being registered makes accessing the NHS very difficult in the case of emergency. There is information about registering on the notice-boards on each floor or you can contact the practise on 020 7928 7958. If you completed a purple and white NHS form when you signed your contract then you have already registered.

Reception

Fire Brigade Strike
The second London Fire Brigade strike is due to take place on Monday 1st November, between 10am and 6pm. This may impact emergency response coverage available to Bankside House. Please help us by continuing to vigilant; in particular do not use candles or incense, don't overload plug sockets and unplug electrical equipment when not in use. It would also be helpful if you could take another look at the video on fire safety in residences.

Bankside Health Club
Representatives from the Bankside Health Club will be in reception on Thursday 4th November between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. They will be offering memberships and free passes!

Clocks go back by 1 hour - 2.00am Sunday 31st October
British Summer Time ends at 1.00am on Sunday 31st October and clocks, watches and phones will need to be put back by 1 hour to GMT (2.00am becomes 1.00am). This could give you an extra hour in bed or for a list of things to do with the extra hour check our the View London website.
