Postgraduate Social Event - 6th November, 7pm - 10pm - Restaurant
Annex
Mairead, the 7th Floor Sub-Warden
will be hosting a social gathering for postgraduates on 6th November
in the Annex Room (behind the restaurant). Some food and wine will
be provided but please also feel free to bring along your own drinks
or if you're feeling inspired, some home cooked national food for
everyone to try! If you want to help with preparations beforehand
head to Kitchen 3 on the 7th Floor from 5pm. If you'd like to go

Fire Brigade Strike
The third London Fire Brigade strike
is due to take place between 10am on Friday 5th November and 9am on
Sunday 7th November.
This may impact emergency response coverage available to Bankside
House. Please help us by continuing to vigilant; in particular do
not use candles or incense, don't overload plug sockets and unplug
electrical equipment when not in use. It would also be helpful if
you could take another look at the
video on fire safety in residences.
Posters
If you wish to put up posters in
Bankside House you must first get them approved and stamped at
Reception. If they have not been stamped they will be removed.

Maintenance |
Showerhead cleaning
In line with Health and Safety
legislation the showerheads on the Ground, 1st,
2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Floors will be cleaned on Saturday 6th and
Sunday 7th November. You do not need to be
present in your room during this work.
TV Reception
We are aware that some rooms are suffering from poor TV reception. Our facilities team are currently working with Rentrifone to rectify the problem. We apologise
for any inconvenience and hope to have the problem resolved as soon
as possible.
Structural Work
From Wednesday 10th November there
will be some structural work taking place on the 7th Floor. This
work will involve the use of noisy drills, although very noisy work
will normally only take place only between 10am and 2pm. This work
may last for up to two weeks. We apologise in advance for any
disruption during this essential work.

Bonfire Night
On 5th November people across Britain
celebrate the foiling of the 'Gun Powder Plot', a plan to blow up
the Houses of Parliament with MPs and the King inside. Each year
there are thousands of firework displays and bonfires across
the country - it's a bit of British culture not to be missed!
On Friday the
easiest good display to get to is Clapham Common. It
will take around 30 minutes to get there from Bankside - take the
Northern Line from London Bridge to Clapham Common. The display
begins at 7.30pm but aim to be there a little earlier. For more details visit

There will also be displays on Saturday with perhaps the best at
Blackheath, for more details on this display and how to get there

Please remember to take care when near fireworks or bonfires,
particularly in view of the Fire Brigade strike, for more
