Christmas at Bankside
Bankside Christmas operations
The Bankside Christmas operational planner can be found online. Please check this for details of when reception, restaurant, bar, maintenance, housekeeping and extra bed services will be available.

 Restaurant and Kitchens
The restaurant will be closed completely between 19th December and 2nd January. Kitchens 1 and 2 on the west side of the ground floor will be made available for students that wish to cook whilst the restaurant is closed. For more details please contact reception.

Christmas in London
The student services centre have put together a useful Guide to spending Christmas in London. This guide includes events that are going on along with opening times for various LSE services. For details of travel services over Christmas see below.
 

Maintenance

Quarterly Fire Alarm Testing - Monday 20th December
On 20th December the quarterly fire alarm test will take place. During the day you may hear short blasts from the alarm as it is tested. You do not need to evacuate the building unless the alarm sounds for more than 30 seconds. The engineer may need to enter some rooms on 20th December in order to test the alarm - due to the nature of the testing we are not able to advise which rooms this will be. We apologise for the inconvenience, however this is a statutory requirement.
 

Housekeeping
Room Checks - Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st December
Monthly room checks will take place on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st December. You do not need to be in your room during the checks.

Party season us upon us and O'Sullivans Salons are offering all Bankside residents a 20% discount on all your hair and beauty needs. O'Sullivans is located at 3 Sumner Street next to Crushh and Joy.

The Tall House
The Tall House are running a special Christmas Dinner & Dance party for Bankside House students on Thursday 23rd December from 6.30pm. It is just £12.00 per person. The Tall House is just around the corner at 134 Southwark Street. If you would like to go along please sign up at Reception before Monday 20th December.

Free in London this Weekend

The Pantaloons perform 'A Christmas Carol'
17th and 18th December, 6pm, More London Scoop.
Critically acclaimed outdoor theatre company, The Pantaloons will be performing their hilarious, fast paced, adaptations of Dicken's festive favourite A Christmas Carol. With a cast of just four this performance mixes puppetry, slapstick, original music, traditional carols and audience participation.  The Guardian describe this free performance as "Witty, energetic and accessible" and what's more is its just 10 minutes from Bankside. There are no engineering works on the underground this weekend. There will however be part closures on the DLR.

Over the Christmas and New Year period TfL run revised timetables, in particular there is no transport available on 25th December. On New Years Eve you can travel for free between 23.45 and 04.30 and tube, DLR and bus services will run all evening.
