Career Profile
Currently a PhD student in the Department of Mathematics of LSE, under the supervision of Dr Peter Allen and Dr Ahmad Abdi.
Studies
During my MSc, my focus shifted to Discrete Mathematics. In particular, I followed courses in graph theory, algebraic and probabilistic methods in combinatorics, and I also completed various related projects under the supervision of Prof. Benny Sudakov and Prof. Valentin Féray. I wrote my Master Thesis about Nešetřil's Pentagon Conjecture under the supervision of Prof. Benny Sudakov and Dr Stefan Glock.
During my Bachelor, I focused mainly on Probability Theory. I wrote my Bachelor thesis under the supervision of Prof. Franco Flandoli.
Skills
Besides mathematics, there are some other things I enjoy doing (with various levels of success). I listed here some of them.
Programming language was the first exam I passed in my Bachelor, and since then I always enjoyed programming. During my BSc and MSc, I acquired some familiarity with C and Matlab and I believe I can program at an intermediate level using these languages. Moreover, recently I have been interested in learning C++ and Python and therefore I started an independent project in which I try to write some tools using these languages. I also regularly take part in Codeforces competitions.
Even if it cannot be considered a programming language, I am proficient in Latex (you can find on this website many examples) and I created this webpage in HTML starting from Xiaoying Riley's template.
Languages -
I am a native Italian speaker. In July 2018 I passed an IELTS exam with a grade of 8.0/9.0 and therefore at that time my English level was already proficient. Since then, I studied a MSc course taught and examined entirely in English and I have been doing a PhD in London; therefore I do believe my English level has improved substantially.
I have been studying Spanish since Dec 2021. I have a basic understanding of German, but I cannot be considered independent in this language. I am planning on learning French next.
Experiences
I had the chance to do some extracurricular activities. You can find here a selection of those which have been more important for me. GTA stands for Graduate Teaching Assistant
Teaching
I had the honour of being GTA for many LSE courses; I assisted courses both of the Dept of Maths and the Dept of Finance. As stated above, I can forward the feedbacks I received if requested.
Other Working Experiences
As a member of the Operations team, my general task was to facilitate the work of the startups that were hosted in our space. As a part of this task, I helped both in the everyday organization of the common spaces e.g. providing supplies (both technical and non) for the startups and in the general management of the ETH Entrepreneur Club e.g. assessment of the startup's projects.
