Projects
- Public Service Bargains (with Christopher Hood)
Building on earlier work on Public Service Bargains (PSB) and civil service
competency, this ongoing work develops the PSB-lens further, both through
the addition of further country cases (New Zealand, Jamaica) and
methodologies.
- Network Regulation in the English-speaking Caribbean (with Lindsay Stirton), funded by the Association of Commonwealth Universities
Building on earlier work on the introduction of regulatory institutions into
three English-speaking Caribbean small island states (Jamaica, Barbados and
Trinidad & Tobago), this project seeks to evaluate the effect of regulatory
institutions on developmental outcomes.
- Modes of Control and Meat
Inspections (with Kai Wegrich)
This research builds
on earlier work on different modes of control, as provided through the lens
of grid-group cultural theory. The project develops a methodology to explore
patterns of argumentation and regulatory response over time and across
states. This project also links to wider debates regarding 'better
regulation'
- The Politics of Security of Supply
This project investigates the problem-solving capacity of the
contemporary regulatory state in comparative perspective. It investigates
the politics of security of supply in electricity regulation in three key
jurisdictions, New Zealand, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Publication projects
- Oxford
Handbook of Regulation (co-edited with Martin Cave and Robert Baldwin)
